should sheer courage be eligible for a novice plate?b

if a horse wins a maiden plate and is disqualified later due to banned substances it cannot go back and compete in a maiden plate however sheer courage won his 2nd race was disqualified a few weeks later due to some rather controversial circumstances to say the least and he is allowed to run in a novice pate for one time winners at the vaal tomorow...fair play considering both crimes?

i think this is the correct decision...because the horse has not run since its disqualification...maidens should also be allowed to contest their races they had won and subsequently disqualifed...since the owners have lost the stake money....
many years ago....basil marcus entered a wrong horse in a race...think it was called...miss lobkowietz....it was disqulaified and it ran again as a maiden albeit at 1/10 on.....so i dont see why sheer courage should not be classified as a 1 time winner because if not classified as a 1 time winner...then the horse and the connections are being penalised twice in my opinion

I agree in principle.

But.... if you can never go back, if you are disqualified in a grade 1, do you have to retire?

Or if you disq in a MR86, may you only run in a MR87 or higher? ;)

ps
I heard they had enquiry of the trainer after disq the horse, what happened there?

Look the horse is a 2 time winner and IMO should not be allowed to run in a novice, when it was a one time winner it was not supposed to run in a maiden.

I agree it should not be allowed to run in a Novice Place and should carry the weight of a 2 time winner in a Graduation Plate. His first run here was cheating which should be treated the same as a horse disqualified for banned substances. It is tough luck for the owners if a horse is disqualified for dishonesty and should not be allowed to compete against genuine 1 time winners.

Trust racing to complicate what should be a simple situation.
If a horse has 3 wins, and it is disqualified in 1,it is surely now a 2x winner...anything else makes no sense!
Similarly,IMO a horse that wins a maiden and has the win taken away is surely no longer a winner, and is therefore still a maiden....only in racing can a race lost, regardless of how, remain a win,for record purposes.

Basically the NHA are inept and cannot understand their own rules and thus the grey areas keep expanding. Their handling of this fiasco is a testament to their ineptitude. Long gone are the days when they were unchallenged and they are opening themselves to all sorts of challenges. In a time not so long ago 2001 and before us phantom bloggers were around to ask how and why,- there was a trainer that won a novice plated race with a dead heat . The horse's win was not recorded correctly due to the dead heat and was accepted to run as a novice a fortnight later.
