Wilko has retired from international rugby.
Has there been a better penalty taker?
If no then who?
At least my wife will stop drooling at the TV when he plays

peekay...percy certainly got better with age...but i remember the lions test not the last series but the previous one...where we lost the test because we didn't have a recognised goal kicker(percy was the preferred kicker in that series)...i remember it well because i lost a fortune in that series...with tight games going a begging because of straight forward penalties going astray...
wilkinson was excellent....but for me the best was (didnt get to see much of him...but when i saw him he never missed)was the argentine...hugo porto....slotted them from every angle possible and controlled the game...much like naas botha did...those 2 ahead of wilkinson

RG, agreed, but after he returned from overseas, he was a different goal kicker. I always had huge confidence when he stepped up. So yes, in the later days, he was the best for me.
I suppose we can't really leave out Dan Carter......he will probably retire as one of the best as well.
Braam van Straaten was quite good and so was that guy with the red hair from Wales......his name escapes me right now and then also the guy from Scotland (Patterson i think). A very good goal kicker.

for some reason northern transvaal and the free state produced good goal kickers...perhaps they had gysie pienaar and naas as their heros...i remember when we used to play in the parks...and we were all naas botha's when we were lining our kicks

lol @ Racing Guru.......yes, i was a Naas Botha myself. I remember the plastic orange rugby ball and i used to kick over the swings. I would either dig a little hole in the grass or i would find a little sand to place the ball. The good old days
