Based on how they run and publicize racing in Johannesburg, I am NOT looking forward to Phumelela becoming involved in Cape Town racing.
Strictly from the standpoint of an owner, as it stands right now, we get to see photos of the winning horses on line within a few minutes of a race being run. As it stands now, Phumelela never offers photos.
As for publicity, unless one is politically correct in the eyes of Rob and Nicci Garner, they are not going to receive any notice.
The new guy? Well, let's just say he's new...
If things don't at least stay the same in the Cape or get worse, which is not entirely out of the question, I plan to rethink my involvement in South African racing.

Winzip, Cape racing is shambolic. We have some of the worst racing administrators in the land. As for our trainers, Bass,Ramsden,Kannemeyer and Snaith dominate and a few others are competitive. Our biggest problem is that we live in a mickey mouse town. While we have some of the biggest owners and breeders supporting our trainers we do not have the punters. Our racecourses are empty, our totes are filled with punters who bet with coins and not notes and whilst Gauteng has generated huge income via the soccer pools we have hardly added to the pot.
Also have you ever heard of the Lairds, Tarry, Gray and Matchett ?
Hotline, you must be a little confused as Ebony Flyer only made her debut in May 2010 so could not have run in the juvenile race on Met day.Say no more !

Let the horses do the talking.
Anyway, there's always the Sporting Post. You don't need to be part of the "in crowd" to get a mention.

Yes Harris....as usual u are correct.....I meant Sparkling Gem.....not EF.....
I think to say that Cape racing is shambolic isn't correct. We have just demurged from GC as we felt there was no future. The merger with P will be way better for us and in time you will see the positive effect for racegoers, owners and trainers. At least give it time to improve.....
