Have you ever considered that Woodruff doesn't have the best horses in his stable at the moment, could this not be a reason why he does not have a ''top stable jockey'' ?? (No offence intended to Davids and Mansour)...

@ greg,

if the smallest stable (numerically) in the country had a full time stable jockey , then i believe that stable would improve and so would that jockey. Woodruff does not need a better quality of horse he needs the 2 jockeys mntioned to stay with him for a few years so that both can learn each others methods.

BUT i am sure that in 2 years time when they start firing then a bigger name jockey might pick up a ride or 5.

that is the problem,,,,,,,

SA must be one of the cleanest racing jurisdictions when it comes to jockeys...,judging by the number we have charged for dishonesty compared to the likes of the UK, Singapore and HK...or are our authorities not up to catching the crooks???

@ fc

a horse is evens, the jockey has a mate that is a bookmaker. that bookmaker lays the horse all day long at 14/10 the horse runs a stiff 4th. How will the authorities know?

or

a punter bets every day his spend per day is R1000, then all of a sudden he takes a bet for R10 000 , who is there to report this anomily?

the sooner betfair are granted a lisence the better.

About 2 weeks ago i witnessed with my own eyes a horse called causeway (vaal) the betting someone was trying to lay this horse on betfair for £12000 @ 2.78 this stuck out like a sore thumb, the horse ran no where.

@ fc

as per my illustration there is no one "reporting" IRREGULAR BETTING PATTERNS.

ANOTHER EXAMPLE,

you have a tote account and you bet place accumulators every single day spending R500 per perm
then 1 bright day you take a pa for R3000 and in 2 of the legs where there are CAST IRON bankers both @ lower than evens you have 5 horses in each leg and NOT the 2 short priced favs.

NO ONE at phumelela goes " mmmm look at this weird bet" No one asks "why does he sometimes spend R3000 on a pa and its always the same jockey riding the short priced ones he leaves out?"

Any idea how Phum is meant to know who the ticket belongs to ?? and if you are saying that this anon person uses his traceable tote account then he either is doing nothing wrong and has nothing to hide or has shit for brains...

The average amount traded at midweek vaal meetings is around £8k-£10k so anyone trying to lay a horse for over 33k into a £10k pool needs his/her head read.

I would think he would cash, however if u do get a big tote payout, don't you get a cheque and might need to show FICA docs?

1 of 2 things is happening with point 2

1: money laundering (monitored by bf ) but no one in sa to report it to
2: horse stinking (monitored by bf ) but no one in sa to report it to

Easy considering Causeway opened up at 22/10 and started 14/10 laying just under 18/10 on betfair should hardly "stick out like a sore thumb' that's about par for the course..an example of that would be Chocolicious who was layed at 2.95 on betfair off 13/10 today

I will guarantee that nobody at Saftote would analyse betting patterns of punters.....(.they can't find their own bum with either hand, with the lights on)
If you take the bet on telebet the payout is merely a financial one ,and although FICA'd ,no detail of the bets would be involved in any cash transfer !
Titch,I can tell you that Bhp12000 is an extreme amount of liquidity on a SA race on Betfair,And I think that it would qualify as "remarkable".
