Mutahadee is a decent chap for sure. Good run back by Bold Silvano even though, if he wants to win the World Cup he will have to improve lengths.....

The Yanks are coming boys......NO RACE!!!! :)

Mendip reigns in Maktoum Challenge

BY DAVID BAXTER 5:35PM 9 FEB 2012

Report: UAE, Thursday

Meydan: Al Maktoum Challenge R2 Sponsored By Dubal (Group 2) 1m1½f, Tapeta 3yo+

MENDIP ground his way to victory under Kieren Fallon, continuing Saeed Bin Suroor's fantastic form at the meeting with a fourth winner from the five thoroughbred races.

The five-year-old had finished fourth in round one of the Challenge and demonstrated he had improved for the outing, holding off Haatheq as favourite Master Of Hounds finished third.
It was Mike de Kock's other runner, Hunting Tower, who cut out the running, setting a decent tempo with Master Of Hounds sat in midfield.

Turning for home Dubai Prince, who had been settled against the rail, took the lead with Haatheq also challenging and the gap appearing between runners for Master Of Hounds.

However, the favourite could not find a change of pace as Mendip battled to the front for Fallon, giving Bin Suroor another victory on the card.

The jockey said: "He's a bautiful horse to ride, he needed the run last time but has bounced back. He had a lot in hand."

True, but Meydan is not Nad Al Sheba.
The US horses aren't nearly as formidable on this surface as they were back then.

Bold Silvano is bound to come on many lengths from that. It was his first run in a year and only his second run in 18 months as well as being the shortest trip he's tried since Dec 09. Super Saturday should tell us if he's up for it.

Mutahadee ran off a 111 and won by 1.50; if he had been ridden out that could have been ... 5 lengths? 10 lengths?
Who knows what his true ability is? Certainly could be competitive in the Duty Free. He did finish 3rd in a Gr2 in Ireland before MDK got him.
