worst thing about claim system is that one of the 100's of bookmakers lays a single bet..claims it..and the price around the country just dissolves.
i don't think the claim system should be in effect after 11am on the race day, otherwise what do we have a supposed market for?
The bookmakers also shoot themselves in the foot with the claim, because they change the price and then taking back the horse amoungst the balance of the industry becomes impossible. Weird, but there it is.

True Jack only one bookie takes the bet and the other 99 reduce the price and would guess he only takes a portion back with another 1 or 2 bookies, so 97 have dropped odds on a horse without a bet and in my case it's probably your own horse and it gets beat 97% of the time lol

All this post proves ( once again! ) is that there is a massive case for betting exchanges where the market is 'truer' than any other system.

And it also proves that not many forum members make their own odds line, most seem to bet on the horse they think will win despite the odds.

Hi Lucky - do I construct my own odds line for each race I play? Most definitely. I feel I need to intepret whay my bet is worth objectively and then compare to the bookies' odds so I can determine value. My "Fair Prices" are not a forecast for the SP's but my interpretation of fair prices.
For example today's Peninsula handicap at Kenilworth:
(Horse #, Runner, My Fair Price
1, Cask, 15/2
2, Run For It, 11/2, currently at Interbet 2/1
3, Super Storm, 24/1
4, Caymen Island, 12/1
5, Hawk's Eye, 15/2
6, League Of Honour, 100/1
7, Polar Bound, 11/2
8, Brown Penny, 4/1, Currently at Interbet 9/2
9, Saluki, 100/1
10, Astro News, 15/2
11, Azeroth, 100/1
Earlier today Run For It was 17/10 which I thought was very expensive and remains so at 2/1 - and drifting?
The value horse to me is Brown Penny, not only is he my firm fair favourite but its price is shortening from 5's. I must get onto Brown Penny now.
