A little birdie who is well connected whispered in my ear that Variety Club is likely to go for the Met rather than the Derby, depending on how he goes in the Queen's Plate, but that's not official and no final decision has obviously been made yet.
Silver Flyer is a conspicuous absentee from the Derby entries. I suppose he could still be supplemented, but maybe MDK is telling us that Mushreq is considered superior. Mushreq runs in the Politician Stakes on Saturday, together with a few more Derby hopefuls, and that will tell us more.
The Majorca looks a cracker, but let's see how Ebony Flyer goes in the Queen's Plate.

Met day will be great and a challenge for the punters :S
The Derby over 2000mt and the Majorca over a mile

Met day will be even more challenging for the punters if Igugu doesn't run, but so far no announcement has been made, according to Charl Pretorius. And he would certainly be one of the first to know.

Well, the Paddock Stakes was obviously supposed to be part of her Met lead-up, but she is probably superior enough to the rest of the Met field that she doesn't need to be absolutely 100% to win. The Met weights no longer favour the "nearly" horses like they used to before they were changed, so she looks very well treated, and then of course there is the De Kock factor.
However, one has to be a tad concerned, at least until we hear one way or the other what the intentions are.
