Pierre Strydom - Queen's Plate day
13 years 5 months ago
I have often heard jockeys say that only race riding gets you fit, so I find it a bit strange that after breaking his jaw Pierre comes back for such a big meeting. I would have thought that maybe he would have been carded at the Vaal yesterday. I am not doubting his ability and I know that he is a true pro but I am sure he would have been better prepared after a few races under his belt.

its impossible for any professional sportsmen to be 100% match fit after a months break...you spot on Harris...he will need a couple of weeks to get back to optimum...really this guy Titch.

My trainer tells me that racing is always at a higher intensity to working....i didnt say he wont win...i said it will take a couple of weeks to get to his optimum...nobody needs to be a genius to understand that...it applies in most sports

Your trainer is probably right but for you to make a statement that Strikes wont be at his best is simply ludicrous ...tut tut tut really this guy FC

striker can ride winners in his sleep...so let me ask you this...willl striker be better (fitter and stronger) after three weeks of race riding...if the is yes then he cannot be at his optimum tommorow..i wont be surprised if you dont get it
