Backed Pocket Power in all his Met wins (and his losses but who cares)

Made some tin on Past Master last year.

Backed Mother Russia to a pulp when she went down to River Jetez..

I thought my money was in the back, Delpech was up, I got 14/1..

14000/1000..

Damn was I bummed.

But that's why we love this game, the rush we get, win/lose or draw..

Btw, why I say pulp4 only R1000 was that at the time I was still 18, just started working, was earning R500 a week..had to save up for that bet

We had a quad on met day.....if I recall it was 168/2k....jay peg/sun classique ,pocket power and desert links......3 won and desert links threw a shoe before the start,farrier didn't have the right alumites and they raced him unshod......should have scratched him in hindsight!

All I can say is make sure u have somewhere to go, re; a box, tent, picnic area etc, I went once with an owners and trainers badge thinking it would fine?........bad idea, make sure you have a base or somewhere u can get a drink and at my age a seat.

went to every met since pas de quoi won with puller up @20/1.only missed 1 wen working in jhb(went to gosforth park on the day and made buckets.)my worst met was wen alastor won.i had abt 10k and my girlfriend with me.i backed glen hatt and he ran 3rd.i didnt back 1 winner on day and came home broke.best met was wen lloyd won with pocket power.he won 6 races and i backed each 1 of them.i made abt 80k.most of his winners was for m bass.i remember 1 met day i backed gulf trade with byleveld up in race 2.i put 2k on @5/1 and it won.i then put 5k on j lloyd for bruss to win met which he duly did.that was my only 2 bets on the day.

There has been some tight finishes in mets, I backed northbynorthwest when he got beat by imperial sue. That was about 12 years ago and I still feel he was so unlucky:(
