Just got home and agree with most post's. It is not what we want to portray racing here. The photo you put in Titch is possibly not the way to have gone as some actually believe you despite the retraction a bit later. The track condition can only be attributed to the track manager and he must now explain why or go.It is and was unexceptable and must be rectified asap. Will post more later as waiting to hear more.

i recall a few months ago after race 2 on the outside track the jockeys lodged a protest saying similiar to what happened at clwd today and they moved it to the inside track....race one was a grooms race that day...

Hi Greg if its the Banana Republic one I have just read it and although I hate to say it they are basically right. From my sources basically the present track manager does not want to be there. Tried to get medically boarded but failed and is not interested. I know the guy well and he is good at his job so not sure what the problem is at the moment but under no circumstances can this EVER happen again. If he cannot do his job properly then he must go now.

Craig
It's simple .
He is usually good at his job.
He doesn't want the job any more and he has obviously let GC know that in more ways than one.
Gold Circle should just let him go and employ someone else.

East why does he just not resign if he does not want the job? No one is stopping him.

Just to put a different slant on things and I am not sure if the reasons are the same but there is a very well known golf course down our way that has had its greens destroyed by some disease that attacks the greens. This has been going on for a few years now and apparently when the problem raised its head it was not managed properly poor treatment was used and the greens were destroyed as a result.
This Clairwood story sounds very similar and I guess that it has been coming from a long way off. I was there +/- 3 and years ago and in both instances I remember overhearing complaints from owners and trainers.
The problem is when you hang an axe over people’s necks (sale of Clairwood back then) you have to wonder how much they really want to give or be there.
Bottom line and based on the tractor story above and P's instance, there seems to be far too much take out. Dividends continue to pay at high levels in P's instance and little to no capex. Millions made every week but no cash to buy a simple tractor tells a story. Something is very wrong in racing! It is starting to sound as dysfunctional as the Limpopo province. The top layer living large whilst everything else around it is falling to pieces.

This is a very sad situation and feel sorry for the connections of runners on the day plus for the future in KZN

why should he resign...he knows his end benefits will be more if he is medically boarded or fired.....so this is a kind of randsom he is holding....but it still comes back to management, whichever angle we try and disect it........the course curator is responsible...but management is still accountable.....to the public..for whatever goes on.....in south africa we have this myth that we let heads roll from the bottom....and its fixed....in america they roll from the top..and it normally ends with sympathy for guy at the bottom...because its fact that if he was the right guy for the job...then he was not managed well.
