Horsetrader, by Nick Robinson, which is the Robert Sangster story. Hard to find but worth the hunt. Absolutely riveting read!

If you like fiction, Dick Francis (at least his earlier books ... when he got old the quality deteriorated sadly) is a good rollicking read. If you like more serious fiction, "National Velvet" by Enid Bagnold is superb, but it's long out of print ... unless someone has re-issued it. Just be warned: the movie of that title is a fake of the worst kind ... uses the title but precious little else ... so don't judge the book by it's movie!

You flatterer, you.
I agree with Mauvorneen that Dick Francis' early books were much better than the later efforts. I think he ran out of good ideas and they just got sillier and sillier. His autobiography "The Sport of Queens" is a good read, even for someone like me who doesn't give two hoots about jumps racing. Although I haven't read it yet, the Seabiscuit book on which the movie was based is supposed to be one of the best racing books ever. I got a copy from Amazon not long ago and will get around to it shortly.
Amazon is a great source of books as they sell a lot of second hand stuff through various subsidiaries and associate companies. The prices are very reasonable even with the postage and packaging, and delivery is pretty quick (a couple of weeks on average) considering they come from the other side of the planet. Type "horse racing" into the books search engine on their homepage and who knows what gems may pop up. (tu)

Lester Piggots 2 biographies are good but the best is FRANKIE , autobiography of Frankie Detorri.
Also John Francome, ex jump jockey, also writes enjoyble racing thrillers.
Pocket, the Pocket Power story is excellent as well.
Muti, I have a super magazine article on Ruffian from an Irish mag. If you can send me a fax no or address I will copy it and send to you.,

When I was a teenager way back when, my mates told me there was this awesome video doing the rounds staring Victoria Principal, or someone who looked remarkably like her that had a horse play a starring role in it. I can't remember the name of it though...

There are a couple of excellent biographies of Vincent O'Brien as well. To describe the man as a genius would be to undersell him completely.
