I was sure I read somewhere that he was suspended for a lengthy period and thereafter have to satisfy the NHA that he understands the proper use of the whip?

I think he was suspended in the middle of a meeting for two whip offences on the same day. He clearly needs to cool it a bit, but he can ride and no doubt James Maree has had a word in his ear.
