Newbie Question - Tie

Hi,

A bit of a newbie to betting, if someone can maybe explain a rule to me.

On Sporitngbet.co.za, what are dead heat rules, and how does this work?

Specifically talking about the cricket match between India and Sri Lanka which ended in a tie, they then quote "dead heat rules apply"

Would really appreciate it if someone can explain why I didn't even manage to win my stake back?

Thanks in advance

If you have a bet eg 1000/1000 it becomes 500/500

Dead ht would mean half your stake is lost because there is two winners eg if you R50 on an even mony shot you would have R25 going on at evens.. basically you have finished 1st and 2nd

so if you had rand 100 on an 8/10 shot and you dead heat your returns would be R90

Most bookies in ODI cricket offer Tie No Bet, which means all bets get refunded. Some like Sportingbet have "dead heat rules apply." If you backed a side at less than 1/1 then you would not get all your money back, at 1/1 you would break even and anything above 1/1 you would make a profit.
