Calling Rob and Titch,
Have any of you tried to place a phone bet on betfair since the barring has come into effect????
I will try shortly but would like to know if anyone here has tried it.

No,I will just move over for now.
(BTW guys,Betdaq seem to be selective cos I see they are NOT taking Vaal (sand) today although they did do Kenilworth on Wed.
Maybe it depends on number of UK meetings.....they probably have a lot less servers than the opposition right now????)
Bashful,go have a look @ Betdaq.com

That is interesting.
Only a few days ago they informed Hibs that they would...............must be intending to apply for licence here!?!?
(tested it too..........you are right!)
Oh well......... roll on licence application.
Perhaps Hibs can update with them.

Titch,
If you not an existing account holder you cannot open a new account if you apply from South Africa. That is my point.
Will keep my Betfair account open and relay the odd bet to my connection overseas. It is not the ideal but it worked already. I relay my bet this evening for the next day. It works best with soccer where pools are huge and there is not much drifting or shortening of prices. As for horse racing, SA horseracing, I dont think my way of punting on Betfair will work, especially when there is price movement as my bets are place at least 9 to 12 hours in advance. if the price of my selection drifts then my bet will definetely get swallowed, but there again I would actually get better prices with local bookmakers and when the price of the horse shortens, I stand not to get a bet on at all. It is going to be difficult. Will have to start punting big and then phone my bets through to Betfair. Minimum bet 50 Euros

If anyone has any cash in their Australian wallet, they may be interested in my issue.
Have successfully transferred around £100 into that wallet from my main one a few months ago, I had a few bets without any problems on sporting events which took place over there.
When informed that SA residents could not use Betfair, I withdrew my balace from my main wallet and then found that the AUS wallet was frozen as they needed more verification about me, like a copy of accounts from Betfair to me, which of course I did not have as they have never sent me one.
So now I am unable to either bet with the balance or move it back to the main wallet.
My emails to them went unanswered, so I just gave up

John ,the first time I tried to transfer to my Aus wallet they forced me to FICA that wallet seperately.
I suspect it is a FICA issue ???
The accounts help desk 004488348060 will sort it for you (I hope)

Hibs, the last notice you got from betdaq was "we are aware of the SA situation on betfair and will see what happens" or the like.
Now no accounts from SA.........I would be interested if that is also strategic cos if I was them I would apply for a SA licence, having been under the radar, and take advantage of SA being a bit pissed off with Betfair!!
Won't you see if you can get some info update please.
