There is hope out there!

Ever heard of the cricketer named Dayyaan Galiem? Perhaps not but pencil in that name because there is every chance that the young Capetonian will be the next big thing to come out of Rondebosch Boy’s High.
Dayyaan, who has only just turned 15 years old, put together one of the most dramatic bowling displays that has been witnessed in school cricket on the weekend. But wait that is not all! He then picked up a cricket bat and proceeded to hammer his way close to a double ton!
On Saturday, Dayyaan ripped through the DF Malan High’s batting line-upcausing the hapless batters to look totally bemused as the wickets tumbled. He only required a mere seven overs to take a record nine wickets and only concede a miserly one run.
It was an astonishing display especially as there were no hat-tricks or wickets off consecutive balls. Galiem: 7 overs – 9 wickets – 1 run .
DF Malan somehow managed to scramble their way to 18 runs all out a total that was easily passed by the Rondebosch batters.
The two teams with time on their hands agreed to play a T20 match and Dayyaan proceeded to thump his way to 196 not out off a paltry 76 balls.
Rob Dalrymple, the Rondebosch coach, confirmed that Galiem’s performance was “the best in recorded history at the school.”
At the age of 15, he has already played for the WP U19 team which saw him strike 102 not out. So remember the name Dayyaan Galiem, no batter or bowler is safe!

to me it looks like he has worked a heck of a lot on his mental game Pirates. From watching this guy giving his wicket away cheaply almost every innings, to what we see today is testament of how hard he is working on it. The raw talent is there for everyone to see, now it's up to him to keep his head on his shoulders

Has he dyed his hair since then?

Jokes aside, it was a great match to watch, especially after the gravelling the Proteas got last time. And also after the reported rudeness of some of the spectators.

Cape Town – Explosive new Proteas batting sensation Richard Levi will return to South Africa, as initially scheduled, after completion of the Twenty20 international series against New Zealand in Auckland on Wednesday.

This was confirmed by selection convenor Andrew Hudson in an audio media release issued by Cricket South Africa on Tuesday morning.

There has been a clamour from various critics, enthusiasts and some former national players – including captains Kepler Wessels and Clive Rice and seamer and ex-selector Craig Matthews – for Levi to stay on for the one-day international series following his multiple record-smashing 117 not out in just his second appearance for the Proteas in the second T20 international at Hamilton on Sunday.

Wessels said it would amount to “selection madness” if he didn’t stay on, even if it meant adding to the 14-strong ODI squad picked a few weeks ago.

But Hudson said: “It is very important that we honour the selection process in terms of the 14 guys selected for the ODIs.

“It’s unfortunate that Richard will have to wait his turn. Certainly he can go home and play in the MiWay T20 Challenge; we need to focus, nurture and grow him for the ICC World Twenty20 in September.

“In terms of his one-day aspirations I hope that will follow in due course.

“He’s a fine player and we hope one day he represents South Africa in the ODI format as well.”

And this is why SA will never win a big cricket competition. The selectors should be ruthless and drop players but they are too nice. How do you think the Aussies won all those World Cups. Sentiment should be thrown out of the window when it comes to winning. Look at the England cricket team. They would rather chose South Africans, and Irishmen before they select their own just in the name of winning.

Has any SA batsman batted through the innings in a T20 before.?I doubt it.

I mean really, our cricket team have to be the biggest perennial under-achievers of all time.We have players ranked right up amongst in the best in the world in both batting and bowling departments but have never won anything of consequence. How on earth do this idiots that chose the teams not consider this bloke a potential match winner after his innings the other day?He breaks 2 world records, but that's not good enough for us,let's be loyal to the chokers who have run the team for ever and a day.No wonder saffers chose to go and play for other countries.
