Harry Redknapp's horse killed in fall at Taunton

BY RODNEY MASTERS 3:00PM 1 MAR 2012

HARRY REDKNAPP'S day out to Taunton on Thursday to see his hurdler Bygones In Brid run in the 2.40 had a sad conclusion when the horse was killed in a first-flight fall.

Bygones In Brid, the 7-4 second favourite, totally misjudged the hurdle, giving his rider Robert Thornton a heavy fall. Thornton was back on his feet within a minute and walked intothe changing room.

Redknapp, the Tottenham manager, had arrived at the course with two friends a few minutes before the race. He chatted in the paddock with Thornton and trainer Alan King's assistant Noel Williams.

Redknapp and his friends left immediately after the fall.

Moving Wings (2.10) and Marigolds Way (4.40) were also fatally injured at the meeting.

Sad times for Harry indeed...traumatic to loose a horse or any friend/pet I'm sure that the money was the last thing on HR's mind.

Nobody said that Redknapp was thinking about money when the horse lost its life. You have a history of twisting peoples words on these page. I implied that whenever a horse loses its life then everybody feels for the owner. Just take a half hour and scroll through the posts on ABC where horses have died. All about giving sympathy to the owner where its the horse that has really suffered..well it did lose its life and we all turn over the page of our racecards and see what we fancy in the next race By the end of the days racing 99% of people would have forgotten that the animal lost its life just so that it can entertain and enable us to have a bet on the race. Thats why I detest jump racing.

CnC if someone loses a loved one who do we pass condolences to??
I was making a statement with regard to the thread not your post, I'm sure Dave's point was that HR must have been devastated and not for any monetary loss but to have lost the horse which is why I made reference to how the money was the last thing on his mind...bit touchy this morning??

I think the point is that the horse would sadly get no mention if Harry or some other personality was not the owner.
