Here's a story with a different twist.
I live in a townhouse complex comprising 64 units. About 15 years ago a very prominent South African boxer rented one of the units over the Christmas period. Two of his 'friends' preceded him down from Gauteng. They quickly struck up a friendship with the neighbours and almost every evening were braaing and socialising with them.
One evening at about 5 pm they were next door with the neighbours when they became aware of a commotion at their unit, They returned to find two affirmative shoppers busy making their Christmas selections.
The conservative press might describe what happened next as 'A scuffle ensued'. But one intruder got away whilst the other did not. The reason the second did not get away was because he was lying unconscious in the garden of the unit. He died in hospital the following morning.
When the police arrived to investigate they were unable to establish who had been involved. The boxer who had rented the unit was still in Gauteng. The 'friends' has disappeared overnight and the neighbours were remarkably vague as to who they were and what had happened.
Case was subsequently closed. There were amazingly few incidents in our complex in the years that followed.
