Sorry for the stupid question but what is the big difference between the inside track and the other one. Why is the inner track "more difficult" ?

Not necessarily "more difficult", but it is a sharper and tighter track. Some horses are better suited to the more testing and "galloping" outside track. That said, we in SA need to realize that we think of as "tight" tracks would be considered to be "galloping" tracks in many other countries. If you think a course with a 400m run-in is tight you haven't watched too many races from Moonee Valley!

Thanks Magic. So I take it that the inner track has the shorter run in to the finish?

Yes, and a sharper turn, which in fact is almost like two turns with a funny little straight bit joining them. If I can put it that way.

Only 5 mils of rain fell over the last 24 hours as per TABGOLD - I thought it rained a lot more?
Anyway there will be 'give in the ground' on which I base most of my ramblings below.
R1: Has an open look about it - maybe Shareefa's Jet each way
R2: Galileo's Destiny - what else?
R3: Perform to Please has run a fair race in soft conditions, so I'm backing up The Club King with PtP in the PA
R4: Olympia Beijing the right one on form - I'm including Queen's Star - also drawn well - on a hunch that she will improve over the trip
R5: Demanding Lady all the rage, ran a great race when drawn on the 'wrong' side of the Vaal straight last time and should improve more this trip, only reservation might be if the track comes of softer than reported; clear 2nd choice for me is Waley's Camp, who has run out of the placings only once over this trip (and that was her last run in a Conditions Plate - well out at the weights - behind Without Malice)
R6: Competive handicap; safest choice for the PA imo is the in-form Troubled Waters, but chances to Dark Wind (ran 4.5 lengths behind English Garden over this trip in the SA Classic last year, and has come down in the ratings), Zambucca, Wildest Dream and Wagner (who get s tongue tie and Striker, so could improve lengths on his recent form) - also if the ground is not soft, one can't ignore Blue Horizon Bay either.
R7: Another open handicap, Festival Spirit probably the safest choice from a good draw for the PA, but Canute the Great (I think his last run can be ignored) and Caribbean Coast are both good value imo, also a real roughie to consider is Bezant, who beat Go Gold in the maidens over this trip and now gets weight from that one - Rheims tries blinkers and any improvement with them could see him feature as well - and I haven't even mentioned the joint fav Hulabaloo - field race in the P6 imo
R8: Yet another handicap - not much separating the principles like Beat the Odds, National Road. Active Power and Indian Firecracker (draw favors Beat the Odds) - Umfutho not sure to stay, so the roughie to consider in my opinion is Big Light from the Kom Naidoo yard
R9: Not getting any easier, fillies and mares handicap to close; Saucy Savannah has a good draw and could be better than rated; Goose Valley is a definite contender imo, and for another roughie consider Fiery - drawn wide, but very good last run in a Novice Plate and not too much between F and Prive du Bois on form
Enjoy (tu)

Having enjoyed the Sri Lankan sun n beach for a few hours its now time to pay for this trip
< Cherie's Boy looks a very good e/w bet to me in the first, but I'll be doing it on the nose! Gypsey's from the 1 box with NJ on board is probably worth a small gamble too though its hard to fancy on form
