Strydom's article in this morning's Racing Express was very misleading, to say the least, when it came to the chances of Wagner. Dropping drastically in class, he looked like a good thing, but after one had read what Strydom had to say about the horse disliking the inside track you would have thought twice. I'm sure that his remarks cost many people the Pick Six. A word of caution is one thing (Piere is never less than cautious, when discussing any of his mounts, it has to be said), but this was blatantly off-putting. And by the way, Clyde, I'm sure the horse is named after the composer, Wagner (his mother is called Cosima Liszt) and not Robert Wagner, the actor. The pronounciation is therefore Vaag-ner, and not Wag-ner.

I think mostly the trainers and jocks call it as they see it - yes they get it wrong sometimes (remember Red Fort last week?), just like the rest of us - that's just how it is - not sure what he said about Umfutho, but I did not fancy it at all
