Mahbooba ran a creditable race there, as for Bold Silvano just not the same horse since his injury??

Good move! Genuine European Gr 1 horse but barred from the biggest European races because he's a gelding.

Tradition, I guess, Greg. I think a lot of previously closed races have been opened to geldings, but the real elite ones remain closed. I suppose they are considered tests for future breeding stock of either sex.

Thank you kindly.
But the least said about that victory salute, the better. The lad can ride, but you have to agree with the on-course presenters. He is a disaster waiting to happen and he needs his head straightened out by some Stewards somewhere, before he completely tosses a big race down the toilet doing that. (td)

No winners, but South African trainers didn't do too badly today with 4 seconds and a third from the 9 races.
Well done to all involved with:
- 2nd Seraphin du Paon (Fr) -> Ernst Oertel
- 2nd Viscount Nelson (USA) -> Mike de Kock, Kevin Shea and owners
- 3rd Zanzamar (SAf) -> Mike de Kock, breeders
- 2nd Rocket Man (Aus) -> Patrick Shaw, Felix Coetzee, Fred Crabbia
- 2nd Mutahadee (Ire) -> Mike de Kock
