SAVE WINDFIELDS FARM - the source of greatness in the breed!

There are very few Thoroughbreds in the world that do not have the blood of a WINDFIELDS FARM-bred horse running through their veins - so it is particularly sad to hear that the property (closed a few years ago) which includes the graves of NORTHERN DANCER (and others) is at risk of being lost and forgotten.

In August, the Toronto Star revealed the extent of damage and neglect at the location that was Windfields Farm, the home and burial place of Northern Dancer. The Paulick Report posted a follow up to the Toronto Star article with an interview with Lisa Banks, director of communication at the University that owns the property, on the subject of future upkeep of the farm. She expressed that the farm would be tended and the graves, including that of Northern Dancer, would be mowed and properly maintained.

Now an effort has been made to further protect the property. A resident of Ontario has submitted a proposal to the local heritage council to designate Windfields as a place of historical significance. There must be some very wealthy racing people with very close ties to Northern Dancer and other produce from this farm...... Strange that they don't just do the necessary!
