what happens to a multiple bet, when 1 leg deadheats?

Hi Clan, just need some clarification. I took a multiple yesterday for R50 on Hollywood.
Cocostripes place/Rajastan royals win/Capitoline place/Dylans Promise place/Black toga win/ Turning tides place.. Initial bet was something like 650/50.. Dylans Promise deadheated for 3rd..so I expected a 'lessor' payout, but little did I know my whole bet was to be cut in half? So I basically got paid out R330/25? Is that correct? I wouldve thought that on Dylans Promise the odds wouldve been cut in half, not my whole multiple cut in half..which doesn't make sense as if a horse is scratched in a multiple, only that 1 leg is left out, NOT the whole bet?

Please assist? I know its 'small' money, but when its the 1st bet uv taken after like a month, it means a bit

Dead heat rule is simple - half the bet is a winner, half the bet is a loser.

So not only will you only get half your bet, but you will also lose half your stake.

Might not seem fair, but it is the only way to work it.

i dont know how they worked it out....but in your case i think u got too much...bearing in mind your dead heated horses price ,i would guess would have been around 3/10.....thats a huge loss in the multiple....i dont know what prices each horse in your multiple was...but just on averages..i think your payout should have been around R275.00 inclusive of your stake.....an easier way for you to work it out ...is treat each leg as an individaul race and start with your R50...u will notive your huge loss when u get to the dylans promise leg....so i wouldn't squeal in your instance....but i would have squealed if they used this principal and say if my dead heated horses price was over 4/1...then their logic would have been wrong
