Bettingworld Dead-Heated Places
13 years 1 month ago
Took a place bet on Vivid in the last at the vaal, it dead heated for 3rd, BW gave me even money on the bet, when I went to cash out I received my stake back, less tax deduction. Please could someone explain to me why this is so? The clerk said it is because they half your stake and your payout in the case of a dead heat. What I want to know is why? I can understand halving the payout but why the stake? What if the horse is 2/10 a place, and one puts down 2000/10000 and there is a DH, he gets paid out 6000????? This is absolute BS! Please can someone explain this to me, atleast their reasoning behind this, as I am seriously ready to go Hitler on BW...

Half your bet is beat, half your bet is a winner,is probably the best way to explain it

Well explained Hibs.
Bushy, a few months ago I had a similar occurence. Could not understand it then and embarrased myself throwing the toys etc.
If I was offered an explanation, the way that Hibs has, it would have been avoided.

On the flipside
Check this out
Greyville
Race 1. Soldiersailor opened at BW at 5/2 Bookies 22/10 claimed almost immediately to 1/1
Race 2. Lonsome Dove opened at BW 2/1 Bookies 7/10 claimed almost immediately to 4/10
Has got some advantages if taken early.

Bushy it really is not rocket science do you think your full stake was a winner? in the case of a dead heat huh? obviously half is lost cause it is not a winning bet exactly as in a winning dead heat the same applies because you have only backed the winner with half your stake - i would seriously not go Hitler on BW because you would look like a complete cake

"In a DEAD HEAT the stake money on a selection is divided by the number of runners involved in the dead heat. The full odds are then paid to the divided stake, with the remainder of the stake money being lost."
Had they dead heated for 2nd and 3rd then no deduction would apply on a place bet

Give everything but up!
