I have a local periodical with trainers comments -just threw it away actually as it's expired.
It's not being done everywhere, but from what I remember it was -for the savvy- fairly common place blah blah.
Yet sometimes we do find, in those comments, something of crucial importance.
On balance I think it is fairly useful and I know the comments are real because I 've been to the editor's office once and he was really talking on the phone with all of those people.

Hiwever the thing people dislike is the heavy involvement of trainers, owners and other professionals in the betting process.
Did you ever hear of soccer players or managers gambling on soccer results ?
I know sometimes it happens and I kow there are some notorious stories around, but normally they don't do it.
In the racecourses I walk to the parking lot and bump on five-ten of them pros, eager to relate to me their fortunes of the day !
I don't like this face of horse racing !

If tipsters were good at what they do, they wouldnt need to make money selling tips. They would take the bets themselves.

I do not agree entirely.
You are right , if you a good tipster it is not neccesary to sell.
I look at it as a business model. Selling tips is one kind of a business model.

Here is a question to ponder upon. How many different racecards do you find on the shelf for one meeting.
Many I guess. Those are all TIPSTERS in disguise that have chosen that particular business model.
Thats it. bro.....

One of my posts got hit twice !

If the tipsters etc were not engaging in their profession, there would be no press - no nothing !
Only the jockey club websites,

But in some very shallow markets, it happens for real.
You write something and it is eaten away,

I have worked for various such services,
Here is a another thing I have noticed:
The big money spender type is a once-through subscriber and come the next season he's gone.
Even if we offered gold.
Those folks think they 're destined to become the racing company owners by the end of the week,

But the studious-shrewd-thrifty fellow stays forever.

Two things...
I am sure a roulette wheel would have thrown a red or black after 24...
Wonder if the bookies in on the job?
