Race watching

My PVR has changed watching races for me forever. I have started to watch races properly, to understand what happened a bit better and hopefully to spot a future advantage.

I was about to email Telly Track about how horrific some of their coverage of the starts of some races is. I have found that for many horses, the start can decide their whole race. So when the camera is on the back of the gates (as often happens at Greyville) or some arty close up (often at Kim and in JHB) you have no idea what's happened. At Kenilworth, the image of a full field at the 1200m, a very common race, is a picture of little smudges of mosaic tiles and one can often not even identify the gate number if the wind catches the camera.

As much fun as close ups may be for those working on the broadcast, the great majority of viewers are watching the horse they have backed and it probably will NOT be front or in the close up, so why would Telly Track give these angles?
