horses being claimed then scratched

this is occuring all to often these days and one wonders if it is being policed properly...today big cat diary gets claimed and 2 hours later it is scratched ensuring a nice fat deduction on the eventual winner of the race...in fact 4 horses claimed today have all been scratched..

Have to agree with you Pirates, leads me to think that the bookies are messing with the betting by claiming horses that should not be claimed.
Noticed also that when a horse is claimed, the others don't really drift out.

I got a bookie friend who operated on course, greyville, another bookmaker trick is to all together shorten a horse with claims of the horse being heavily backed to mislead the punters, crafty bastards

I have discussed the matter below with the Chairman of the Central Provinces Stipendiary Board.
Both these horses trained by Mr S Miller were scratched. MAAK 'N PLAN was scratched virus by Dr J Van Heerden. Our Central Provinces Stipendiary Board have the Vet Certificate in their possession.
JOLLY ALONG was scratched by Mr Miller as being lame N/F. The Chairman of the Central Provinces Stipendiary Board asked our Vet Surgeon Dr Wheeler to go to Mr Miller's stables to check if JOLLY ALONG was lame, which he did. On his return from his inspection he advised the Stipendiary Board that the horse was in fact 'hopping' lame and that the scratching was legitimate.
Kind regards

I was sent this PM from one of our posters and it would appear they don't check the betting patterns?

That vindicates Sean completely as both horses were checked by an independent Vet the day before and declared unfit to race prior to any betting moves....

I followed that thread ....
My two cents...
Anything that shows some consistency when it comes to possibly crookery should be given the limelight. Miller can be as defensive as he wants to be.. it comes with the territory.. and that goes for any trainer.
.. defensiveness sparks suspicion.
We not here to get rolled over by anybody... so no holy Grails...
