Scotia after the Guineas weekend.

Good morning and hope we are all still alive and kicking considering the racing and sport?

As normal the social life has been a bit hectic and have a mission this week to lose a few pounds from the waist and gain a few pounds on the punting (easier said than done).

Scotia's new hero

As we get older we sometimes begin to doubt our ability to "make a difference" in the world. It is at these times that our hopes are boosted by the remarkable achievements of other "seniors" who have found the courage to take on challenges that would make many of us wither.
Harold Schlumberg is such a person:

THIS IS QUOTED FROM HAROLD:

"I've often been asked, 'What do you do now that you're retired?'
Well...I'm fortunate to have a chemical engineering background and one of the things I enjoy most is converting beer, wine and whisky into urine.
It's rewarding, uplifting, satisfying and fulfilling. I do it every day and I really enjoy it."

Harold should be an inspiration to us all.

We had some good racing over the weekend with a few highs and lows. The local Guineas where Amanee and Variety Club were impressive winners and the sad news was Bambina Stripes falling and all the best to horse, jockey and connections, in addition that Variety Club might be leaving our shores and the Charity Turf Challenge.

The 1000gns and 2000gns from Newmarket where Camelot made an impressive comeback for the season and don't say I have not been telling you, it has now gone to 12/10 for the Derby. The sad news here was watching the race on a quarter screen, shocking coverage from Tellytrack and we can only hope they get the "INVESTEC" Derby right?

Homecoming Queen

The 1000gns was shown on full screen however more drama at the start where Grey Pearl had to be put down and what a "shock/stunning" win from Homecoming Queen and she has gone as short as 4/1 with some bookies for the Oaks, Ladbrokes have gone 7/1. Another impressive winner was Frankels brother Noble Mission (well highlighted on site) and is 20/1 for Derby.

As far as the site is concerned it is still buzzing with news and links including the Frankel (goosebumps) gallop, the Kentucky Derby, 2000 gns (full screen) etc.

So looking ahead some exciting times, Camelot has also gone 6/1 for the Arc, Oaks still very open, Frankel on track for the 19th May at Newbury where he should again bolt up in the Lockinge Stakes, we have Royal Ascot from 19th to 23rd June where possibly Black Caviar running at the start and finish of the meeting, in Kings Stand and Diamond Jubilee, but probably only the Jubilee at 7/10, also the Queen Anne (Frankel), Prince of Wales (Frankel, Cirrus de Aigles), not forgetting the St James Palace, Coronation Stakes and the Gold Cup (Fame and Glory 3/1)

The Eclipse is on the 7th of July where Frankel might run against Camelot? but we will be focused on the Durban July and the big question is will Jackson win? I say "no" and will be sticking with MDK.

Ya Ya opens the scoring

Premier League looks put to bed City 1/8 United 8/1 do we have another twist? probably not and the top 4 also looks put to bed with Arsenal and Spurs hoping that Chelsea cant beat the Germans. Well done to the Blues beating the Pool to lift the FA Cup.
On the subject of the Cup, I might be in Scotland to watch my team Hearts beat the Hibs (sorry Bob).

Super Rugby we are still getting great reports from Garrick and glad to say we are now picking up a few good atc bets (at last).

Good punting and may your God be with you.
