Claimed horse scratchings
13 years 1 month ago
yet another horse(BHANOYI- vaal race 1 no 2) to be double claimed and scratched the next day, adding to greyville's 5, and flamingo saga the other day with maak 'n plan...this is unacceptable imo

what i do not know is how no one has seen this as a problem, especially when a first timer is to be run, i'd say 95% of the claims come from the stable/owner as they know the capability and well being of the horse, so surely they know if the horse is going to be scratched for what ever reason the next morning, so then why claim the horse? this is obviously just something done intentionally, at least 80% of the time based on how the trend is going...

I dont think they even take betting into it when they investigate, there was not a mention of the betting in the email response RE the Flamingo scratchings...

Bushy what it does is it then creates a deduction on the bets onto the winner

Indeed it does, so either bookies are getting the graft to shorten the net odds for a fav in a race, or trainers/owners are wanting to get the best price possible, and the minute someone claims their horse for whatever reason before them, then they scratch it to get the price next time out...either way I think this is becoming a joke, so funny how on saturday first two claimes came on two horses straight after each other, and the next day both horses were scratched. As if this person(bookie) knew both were going to be scratched and did this...and then they come out with excuses like "invalid passport" / "oh sorry we brought the wrong course to the course"....I mean really!

It's human nature. If there is a way to break the rules and not get caught, we do it.
Unfortunately illegitimate claims are never probed.
Look at the big hoo-haa with the closed thread in Kimberley the other week. I doubt anything was even investigated.
