Debut for Rooney
13 years 1 month ago
WAYNE Rooney is expected to be at Chester tomorrow to witness the debut of his two-year-old colt Pippy in the Lily Agnes Stakes.
The Manchester United and England striker, together with his wife, Coleen, is likely to be on the Roodee as the £63,600 purchase faces 13 rivals in the five-furlong heat worth £9,960 to the winning connections.
Pippy is one of five horses in the race trained by Tom Dascombe at the Manor House Stables in Cheshire owned by Rooney’s team-mate Michael Owen, who is sponsoring the contest.
Jamie Spencer has been booked for the ride.
The Rooneys have two other horses in training at Manor House in Tomway and Switcharooney.
The former holds an entry at Chester on Thursday in the equestrianartuk.com EBF Maiden Stakes. The unraced two-year-old son of Sakhee’s Secret was a cheaper buy at £15,900.
In what could be a big week for the yard, stable star Brown Panther is set to make his seasonal debut in the Group Three Boodles Ormonde Stakes on Friday.
The Shirocco colt, bred and co-owned by Owen, won at Royal Ascot last year and was second in the St Leger at Doncaster. He is to be ridden by six-times champion jockey Kieren Fallon.

Thanks for the info Titch, you have your eye on the ball I mean horse
ha ha
Luckily the horse doesn't know who his owner is, and what he cost and hope fully he will behave better and score a win or two so we will follow the horse and not the owner

Again good publicity for racing, this is the type of story that gets racing on the home page.
