Chippy personally I don't want tips, none of this ''what you going to take Rod'' sh!t...(:P)

For me the preview should NOT just start on race day, here are my suggestions...

From now until race day:
1. Go watch the horses work.
2. Speak to trainers if you can.

At the course:
1. Interact with the trainers in the parade ring (If you can), relay any useful info to the punter.
2. Your personal view on the horses in the parage ring.
3. What went down well or crap in the canter past.

Presenters continually fail to remember that punters can read form. There is very little new blood in the game,so this is old hat for most of us.Tell us what we can't see for ourselves. The form is there for all to see,so consider what the punters won't see on our screens and tell us about it.

@ greg, thanks
watching horses work is vital but understand that there are 3 training centres, 100kms apart, with about 10 training tracks and most trainers work their main string at the same time, 6-7am. impossible for 1 person to do.
this is where clockers make a huge difference in other countries

Venter has a huge advantage over other presenters as Fairview is the only training centre in PE with 4 tracks, of which the 2 main tracks run past all the trainers rings.

unfortunately due to flight restrictions, i will only land back in Dbn from PE on Sat.

jap is spot on ,presenters must be the eyes and ears for the many thousands that cannot get to the racecourse...how they look in the paddock and how they move down to the start...any information from the connections ie trainer and jockeys regarding the wellbeing of their horses will be greatly appreciated..

Cool, i understand Chippy.... (tu)

How about mentioning the clockers to the tellytrack team, that could be something new they could introduce...:)
They could produce a programme to run on a Friday night with the work they have seen over the week?

I think the reason Andrew Fortune is so popular with punters is because he imparts info that is not available to us.'I rode this when it won it's maiden,it's crap' is much better info than presenters who come on and tip their top 4 according to betting order.Punters are forgiving,we do our dough often, because being wrong is inevitable,so just be honest about what you think.Pandering to people is pathetic,so don't tip 5/10 shots just because of the price. If you genuinely think it will win then tip it,but you are going to get a lot more kudos if you have the balls to oppose it and are right.
