No matter what the angle of the CB story...we dont lose to many horses on the tracks...but to lose 2 in 8 eight years at our biggest event should be a story

this is the blurb from CB:
On Carte Blanche (M-Net, DStv, Sun 7pm)
*We interview Bruno and Debbie, finally safe in South Africa after being kidnapped in 2010.
*A Cambridge gerontologist believes old age is a treatable disease.
*Pippie Kruger: We bring you exclusive footage of the procedure and her remarkable healing once the bandages began to come off.
*Durban July Fever - is it the race it used to be?
Dunno where the "galloping disaster" comes into it?

SABC 2 - Sports View programme today had a nice piece of footage on horses and the Durban July.
I only watch the last few minutes of this program.

Must say stopped watching the show a couple of years ago it used to make me depressed, however the topics were very interesting, kidnap, baby etc and at least horse racing got some exposure outside tellytrack.
Maybe not the most gripping racing show but a step in the right direction .
See u at the July

Fantastic exposure for the July, there was a nice article and pic. of Jackson and Polar Bound in the Sunday Times.
Really looking forward to Saturday and experiencing the atmosphere first hand

What is concerning is that horse racing is taking 5% of the gambling pool. My worry is I don't see what the Power's that be are doing on a regular basis to convert casino and lotto players to racing. Three times a year we hear adverts and a hype being built around the Met, July and Summer Cup but then nothing surely something needs to be done to attract new blood into the game.
My non gambling family only bet once a year on the July rearly on anything under 16/1 for about R20 plus about 4 place bets. Why don't we have like the lottery does have a Mega Pick 6 carryover on the last saturday of the month advertised all over the place. If a new punter catches a nice Pick 6 I guarentee you will have him playing regularly.
