Hollywood payouts

Hi Clanners

Can anyone tell me if there is a ruling at Hollywood if you go in and take a cash bet and your payout is more than R10k they must put it in your bank account?

I think it is a security thing for you but im sure it is not a standard ruling

There is no law that says you have to have a bank account...................tell them to open one for the purpose ...........that'll fark em!

I am in Umtata and a Hollywood has recently opened. I took a bet and payout was more than 10k. After much deliberation I was warned that the next time I wont be paid out cash. Thats why I am asking.

Is there nobody out there from Hollywoodland that can officially tell me if this is true or not.?

Doesn't matter where you live ....a bank account is not compulsory!

In a similar vein,but for different reasons................Ronnie Skoldjhamer(sic) backed one of his horses at Scottsville.It won and he was owed R60,000+ R40,000 stake and they said they would have to pay him by cheque..............he pointed out that they don't accept his cheques so he won't be accepting theirs..............they had to borrow from the tote to pay him......lol

(put into perspective,you could buy a house in the smartest road in Umhlanga rocks for R40,000 in those days)

Lol its like winning but losing. You go in with 2k and take 10/2 and walk out with nothing cause they dont even give your stake back.

Not to keen to go back as lady at Hollywood was so adamant that they wont pay out next time.

(I would guess the real truth is they don't keep that kind of cash on the premises except in a drop safe,and they won't hold the keys!)

We try our best to pay all big payouts (10k or more) via EFT. Sometimes even less; depends on the size of the Branch and their cashflow.

We are trying to educate our punters that for their safety we don’t keep cash available of very high denominations, as this creates the perception that we have large sums of cash on site, and it results in robberies / break ins etc.

We do pay out large sums of cash to people from time to time, but we try to avoid it for this reason.

EFTs are done quickly and efficiently, and is the safer option for all involved.

A fair compromise would be to give the stake + a portion in cash so he can keep playing.

In the UK we don`t carry large sums in the UK,the small independants probably carry more cash than the bigg firms but even then it wont be fortunes,INFACT our insurers demand that we don`t carry large sums of cash..

If we have a large win in one of our shops we will pay by cheque or arrange to get cash to the punter or drive the punter to the bank...

All this is for Safety/security reasons..
