Just reading the story in the Parade about the bullet in the hind of Sea Cottage and how he still ran in that race. Now reading a part where horse Summer Guest knocked a tooth out at the start of the 1977 Cape Guineas and ran the race finishing 9th. Any other stories out there like this?? BTW, how does a horse knock out a tooth!!

If SEA COTTAGE shooting saga happened in current times, what odds the horse SCRATCHED,SCRATCHED,SCRATCHED.
Huge uproar, outcry if allowed to run with the bullet, animal rights, SPCA everybody involved, horse care unit etc.

He still managed to run 4th behind his stable mate Java Head then went on to deadheat with Jollify the following year ...that was a really world class animal.

I remember being on course at Clairwood and there was a reunion of old horses and trainers, jockeys etc. and it was an emotional reunion for Rob Sivewright and Sea Cottage after all they went thru together on the racetracks.I'm sure Abbey Boy was also presnt that day many years ago.
Any racing jounalists have any pics, reports etc pls feel free to post?

Sea Cottage carried 57.5 kg in his second July, and Jollify (who had been champion 3-y-o), carried 45 kg. In his next race, the Clairwood Winter H'cap, SC carried 61 kg and beat Atty Pearse who carried 49 kg, and beat him going away.

Go figure ... When we talk of champions, this is what we mean by a champion.

Would be nice if they made a movie on SEA COTTAGE, the great equine hero.
Now Mr.Anant Singh, here's one for you!
