Good ride that....NOT!!!!

I tend to agree with Hibernia (which doesn't happen often) but the 3 year olds this year leave a lot to be desired!!!

I was only saying last week that Joseph O'Brien was a lad that was riding with a lot of confidence after he beat 3 horses
i backed in photo finishes,he had no pressure on his young shoulders.Riding the best bred horses in the world.
Piggot,Carson,Starkey,Dettori and so on have all messed up in big races.
I think we need to take a step back and give him time to get over a bad race.He is only a very young lad and this will
be a learning curve.

I tend to agree with you Dave, only problem was maybe in the thinking of leaving the young chap up for such a big occasion?
You want to make history as these horses only come along once in a blue moon, so you want the best with the best. He had already won the other two races, perhaps a big race jock would have made all the difference?

The horse had every chance if good enough, was only 1/2l behind the winner when the winner showed the better turn of foot

Must disagree Bob,JO went from cruising to whipping in a matter of strides, the winner was being vigourously
ridden from a furlong before that.He got his mount going before JO started to hit the panick button.
Over middle distances the acceleration isnt instant.
He should have took the scenic route on the outside about 3 furlongs out and stoked his mount, but im only
a 16 stone armchair jockey. What do i know.He made a mistake and he would ride a different race if he had
the chance to do it again.

While I do not think he was given the best of rides and the first mistake was going to the inside, Camelot hardly exploded into action when shown daylight. He had enough time to quicken and at least get within 1/2l or less. I have seen far more unluckier losers over the years.
