Scotia on the Paralympics

Good morning all and hope you are looking forward to the London Paralympics?

Many eyes will be on Oscar "blade runner" Pistorius and look forward to him having a "clean" sweep of medals.

There are many heroes that will emerge from these games and in fact many are heroes before the games even commence and would like to highlight Derek Derenalagi, 5 years ago he was declared dead in a body bag in a Taliban bomb attack after his legs were blown off and he will be going for Gold in the discus event.

"from this" to "meets Prince Harry with clothes on"

On the subject of super heroes Frankel continues to burn the turf and there is much speculation when his next run will be?
Looking at the betting of 7/2 for the ARC, would guess that it will be the Champion Stakes at 1/4 to say farewell to his fans in public, sure to be a full house at Ascot on the 20th of October.

Camelot should go for the St Leger and the third leg of the triple crown and come home lonely, weather permitting.

The BBC sports personality will go to an Olympian and should be between Bradley Wiggins and Mo Farah and in another two horse race Obama should beat Romney (although his wife should add a few votes).

Maybe the EPL can produce a few surprises and not as cut and dry as the odds makers priced up? The action and drama has been great in the first couple of weeks, plus if you want a trasfer join the Gunners.

I would mention that it was our intention to run a EPL competition and after a couple of weeks of intervention from the Gambling Board we have had to abort, however I would like to say a big thank you to Voltbet for the proposal and an attempt to sponsor such a competition. It is wonderful that the Gambling Board care so much about the protection of the punters "this is seen as enticement/inducement and is not permissible".

"thanks for the effort"

As far as the Scottish game with Celtic 1/50 and Rangers 1/50 (division 3) what a shocking start from the Gers.

Back to racing and I know many will be sad to say farewell to the flat season but remember we always have Cheltenham to plan and new stars to follow, can Big Bucks win again? Sprinter Sacre is the one to watch.

The site is growing from strength to strength and we have had a recent influx of jockeys, trainers and owners to strengthen our punter ranks.

Here are some highlights from the last week.

The sale of horses is gaining momentum, feel free to contribute...........

Whip use again a hot topic....

Second channel calls "again".

Many more threads about SA cricket, rugby, politics, poker etc.

keeping up with the Scottish theme

Julius Malema, during his fact (read fund!) finding mission to the UK last week, was visiting a Scottish primary school and the class was in the middle of a discussion related to words and their meanings.
The teacher asked Julius if he would like to lead the discussion on the word 'Tragedy'.
So our illustrious ex-leader asked the class for an example of a 'Tragedy'.
A little boy stood up and offered, "If ma best freen, wha lives on a ferm, is playin' in the field and a tractor rins ower him and kills him, that wid be a tragedy."
"Incorrect", said Julius, "That would be an accident."
A little girl raised her hand, "If a school bus kerryin' fifty children drove owr a cliff, killing a'body inside, that wid be a tragedy"
'I'm afraid not', explained Julius, "that's what we would refer to as a great loss.
The room went silent. No other children volunteered. Julius searched the room. "Isn't there someone here who can give me an example of a tragedy?"
Finally, at the back of the room, a wee lad raised his hand and, in a quiet voice, said: "If a plane kerryin' you and your deputy ' wiz struck by a 'freendly fire' missile & blawn tae smithereens, that wid be a tragedy."
"Fantastic!" exclaimed Julius, "and can you tell me why that would be a tragedy?"
"Weel", says the lad, "it has tae be a tragedy, because it certainly widnae be a great loss, and it probably widnae be a f*cking accident either!"

Good punting and may your God be with you

Oscar's performance just emphasized that he is a truely remarkable athlete - we tend to judge him on his effort in the Olympics where he could not live with the 'normal' okes; yet back 'in a handicap' he just strolled away from his opponents.

And Charles Bouwer was also amazing setting a new African record in the pool - just got the gold in a fantastic race where 0.31 secs split the first 5 :)-D

Apparently Oscar wants to lay a complaint about the length of the winner's blades - seems the rules are not keeping up with the pace of technology?
