He has the best strike rate on the Govender horses , gets 2nd or 3rd choice and puts in the same amount of work. I only FIRE them when Morgenrood is on, The most underrated jock imo

James Blond, you have my sympathies.
KN & FdH are both my nemesis. They have tossed me out of a lot of winning bets, just waiting for them to get their mounts first across the line on form horses, only for them to be either caught up in traffic , or running too late.
Question to ask yourself is, Who is the biggest loser if your bets were to come in. No brainer ...bookies.
Assuming you put down R10k on your bet.
Next question, what does a jockey collect besides riding fee. A percentage of gross winning stakes...let's use total payout of R56k, 1st place payout R37k, and let's assume jockeys arrangement is 10 percent, so he picks up R3700., if he wins.
Now let!s look at the situation from a bookies point of view. Am I prepared to give away R120k, NO.!
Let us now look at the situation from a jockeys point of view. Jockey stand to pick up his paycheck of R3700, if he wins, but could possibly pick up maybe R5k, if he does not win.
Bookie stands to payout R120k ..big loss
Understanding the Maths
1.Bookie does not lose R120k. From your R 10k bet, he pays out R1300 and pockets the balance of your R10k bet, R8700.
2. Jockey does not win the race, he still collects his fee. So he earns
2. Jockey loses, extra bucks over and above, racing fee. He still earns.
3. Punter loses, and loses, and wins sometimes, and still keeps trying
4. Ignorant punter unknowingly feeding the system
Do not know who coined the phrase "talking out of pocket".
This is not intended to be controversial, simply a point of view.
However, I do understand the concept of self preservation.

Bernard Fayd'Herbe 30 rides 1 win (3% strike rate) not a great start to the season
Give everything but up!

I dont bet big, but i stood to win over R3000 yesterday if She's a Dime won.......slow away and sat 2nd last for most of the race........quickened up nicely, but i reckon shouldn't have been that far back..........

Wow, @Observer i tried to follow that logic and got horribly lost. Ill try again later oafter my 2nd cup of coffee.
My summary of the days racing, albeit it seems on a pretty easy race card looking at the payouts.
Race 1 - 1,10
Race 2 - 1,2,3
Race 3 - 1,8
Race 4 - 1,5,7
Race 5 - 4,5,8
Race 6 - 1.9
Race 7 - 3,8,9
Race 8 - 3,9
Race 1 - 1st, x
Race 2 - 2nd, 1st, x
Race 3 - 2nd, 3rd
Race 4 - 2nd, 1st, x
Race 5 - 2nd, x, x
Race 6 - 1st, 2nd
Race 7 - 2nd, x, scratched
Race 8 - 1st, x
So excluding my scratched horse i had 19 horses picked today, 5 winners (26%) and 12 places (63%). To me that is a decent strike rate.
With 1 point staked on each selection to win - 19 points staked - 13.7 points won
With 1 point staked each way on each selection - 38 points staked - 33.9 points won
With 1 point staked on each swinger selection - 14 points staked - 11.2 points won
If i played the PA - cost R432 - dividend R13.90 - winnings R222.40
As you can see even though i have had a relatively good day at picking horses, no matter how i structure my bets i am in a losing predicament. I was looking at the ATC (place) bet as an alternative but as far as i can see for the ATC you can only pick 1 horse per race.
Any help would be appreciated in turning my picks into actual money.
