Meissa....how good is this horse?

Really too early to call, but he is above average, imo

Is Clyde a little over-enthusiastic in mentioning the Summer Cup - definitely - but he is trying to get the public interested.

The reason a few of us are more 'pessimistic' about Meissa, is that many horses have been 'labelled' before, only to prove to be not quite as good as their 'labels' would indicate - so the general punter is more reserved in believing the hype - they have been burnt many times before.

As others have said - let the horse do the talking - and maybe the shouting (tu)

Just a horse racing fan. I have absolutely zero affiliation with the Gary Alexander racing yard at this point in time.
That doesn't mean I don't respect Gary and his family for the horse racing people they are.....oh and Ruby isn't too bad either

all the armchair critics are entitled to their opinion me being one of them - lets now let the horse do the talking - i hope he is very very good for the Alexanders because they are lovely people and deserve it. it is early days and imo hasnt beaten anything of note so lets see how it goes

Two kannemeyer horses capetown noir and cape royal look to have bright futures, mercurial brave and cannon also look special from the de kock stable.

Just reading through this post and thought I'd mention that Hoeberg was actually exported to Singapore and won the WFA Chairman's Trophy here. She also won the Paddock Stakes in Cape Town. I understand she ran a fast finishing 3 rd in the Dubai Duty Free behind Terre A Terre and Noverre in 2002 so she was certainly a well performed mare.

She went on from Singapore to run in the Dubai Duty Free and then to David Payne in Australia ...

Only reading this thread now. I backed Hoeberg in that July and took 2 nasty bumps shortly after the start and against bigger and older colts knocked her out of the race. The July against the boys was too rough for her was top class and had the ability to win the July.

Meissa has done everything asked of him and his acid test will come when he takes on the top horses. I also have my doubts but only time will tell.
