Very nice to see how easy it is for the "powers that be" to move around meetings when they want to.....

This international event was held in Cape Town last time as a sweetener for the Pumelela merger with WC racing and the Cape boys fell in cheaply.
Now the big P is trying a kiss and make up with the banana boys because they got plenty bananas ,a whole R200 Bar and P don't even have to sell anything.
P want the whole banana pie because they cannot isolate the banana boys while the Purple player is also looking for a hookup. Nice to see the big P cap is in hand as banana land is set to be the racing promised land.

I think Glynn gave up the right to ride for South Africa when he left the country. He certainly could not represent the Internationals either. For me I would stick to the guys who have ridden in South Africa almost exclusively for the last year, even though they do not have the appeal of others. I would just go down the list of last seasons stats. I doubt whether Fourie would be available and the next two would be Brown (reserve last year) and Yeni. Seems fair to me.

Well said! From what I've heard them say the whole family has nothing positive to say about SA. Let the Aussies have 'em...

Sorry Flash, thought I was being as simple as possible so that even a simpleton like you could understand it.
The international jockey challenge is the brain child of the RA which stands for Racing Association which largely represents owners in the Phumelela controled racing areas Gauteng, Freestate, Northern Cape and Eastern Cape. As you may be aware Phumelela at the time of the last jockey challenge were courting the Western Cape part of Gold Circle who were in the process of breaking away from Natal. The jockey challenge was extended to the Western Cape as a"sweetener" to bring all voting parties in favor of the impending merger between Western Cape Racing and Phumelela.
The Western Cape got their day in the sun with the international event and all were in favour of the merger which with a slight hitch from the competitions board will go ahead. Now no need to now woo the wooed as the RA, Phumelela's marketing arm are extending an olive branch to KZN as you poor boys were about to be isolated until you pulled a big white elephant out of a hat. The cape boys were won over and why go back there it was a job well done.
The Clairwood deal has happened in a flash and you are suddenly cash rich as your funds were made instantly available and a danger to Phumelela. With ZAR200 bar, you are self sufficient and in a stronger position than the Western Cape.
Should Gold Circle KZN now pool this cash with an alterenative colaborator they may look like a stronger outfit than what Phumelela ever could be. Time to embrace and make up cap in hand, nothing like a little incentive like an international jockey challenge leg in your own yard, followed by flashy smiles and suits, plenty flesh pressing and posturing just to remind you that we the RA and Phumelela have not forsaken you.
Horse racing politics is about winning favour and keeping competitors away from your cash generating streams. Better to keep your allies close and your competition even closer.
The Zim champion jockey is riding for the RSA team, his name is Gavin Lerena.
