Gambling on the Sabbath
12 years 8 months ago
Ok the title of this thread is probably the wrong title for this postings but it`s probably abt for what i`m meaning.
When i 1st started punting/gambling just over 20 years ago there was no Sunday opening of betting shops, bookmakers closed their shops at 6pm even though there was night racing taken place and there was 2 meetings a day midweek along with a couple of dog meetings.
Internet didnt exist there was no call centres, there was no FIXED ODDS BETTING TERMINALS,virtual racing or foreign racing..
Now we can gamble 24 hours a day 365 days a year,in shop ,online on our cell phones etc etc..
problem gamblers can never escape now!!

Why is faith expressed only on Sabbath ?
Faith is when you help an old lady cross the street.
It is not when you go to church on Easter mass and empty a pistol and cause untold number of firework injuries.

Exodus 35:2 ESV / 4 helpful votes
Six days work shall be done, but on the seventh day you shall have a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on it shall be put to death.

What about gambling on Rosh Hashanah (which is celebrated today) and Id el Fitr , Id el Kabir, Diwali, etc etc just as sacred to the various ethnic groups but they never seem to be considered or even mentioned :S
