Off the topic but Louisg - Tycoon Rosita trained by you bring good memories to me. Won the 6th race at the Vaal years back paying over R50 for a win on the tote ridden by Deon Sampson. Had a few wins on it. I caught the Jackpot that day which paid over 7grand. Thanks mate (tu)

How long since horses were allowed to run twice on the one day in SAF.
Here in Aus the practice as discontinued about 40 years ago due to balloting, but there are many instances of horses running twice, and they often went better the second time.

Zerbinatto over a100 times in the sixties, trained by Eben Du Toit and then Alec Satoradis. That tiny filly Gloriana also ran over a 100 times in the eighties, trained by Rick Stewart.

Thanks Kittycatoo(tu) those were the days...
"The race was the Champion Stakes and although In Full Flight was now the undoubted king of the turf, Mazarin was still held in high regard and sent off joint-favourite. The two raced handily together and set sail for home upon entering the straight. A sensational battle developed, In Full Flight unable to shake off his older rival. This was the Mazarin of old, capable of taking on the very best without fear. Meanwhile, another twist was about to develop. The grand old man of SA racing, William Penn, joined issue with two stars young enough to be his sons. Aged 11, William Penn had no business disputing the finish of a Gr 1 event, but this amazing old warrior did not have time for such niceties. None of the horses gave an inch and amidst a thunderous roar, the three crossed the line almost as one. The photo showed In Full Flight had just edged out William Penn with Mazarin a short-head behind in third."
