Buyer beware

I have always been aware that buying and owning race horses is a risky business and even those that have been in the game for years land up with more problems than decent horses. I read on another site of just such an occurrence where a horse was purchaced and found to have latent problems and will never race.
If the initial post is accurate in that the circumstances of the latent defect not being detected within the prescribed 7 day return period because of yet another protocol that was left to the prescribed11th hour.

It would seem that the circumstances are of no concern of the TBA who are going to force the sale to make an example of the rules that place a majority of the risks with the buyer.

If this is not proof that this is a risky business when you pay good money for horses that will never race and then get forced to keep them regardless of the circumstances of the sales conditions as you the buyer are the mugg !!!

Hi
As with ALL sales companies around the world we are bound by Conditions of Sale - and our's are in line with all leading sales companies.
I want to ensure "happy buyer happy seller" syndrome as much as we can - and feel our conditions of sale do help the buyer to cancel a sale should there a problem and it is dealt with in accordance with the guidelines in our CoS.

I am open to any feedback and constructive crisitism that can help us improve on this.

Tom

Tom, surely in the case posted on the other website where it seems that the buyer has not picked up a breathing problem because he vacinated for AHS in the 7 day period because the horse was passed through
the sales facility with the AHS at almost expiry date. If this is in fact the case then you have an unhappy buyer and he needs to be made happy ......trying to stick the sale to him by quoting chapter verse your sales conditions when you are in this case are sailing close to the wind with the NCA.........

Your sales conditions may be fair and inline with the other global sales conditions yet 7 days is not enough time to find out if a horse has any latent defects for starters.

This post highlights the perils of purchasing horses that would scare the average Joe in taking the plunge.....
you buy it vootstoets ........it can't race .........better luck next time.
