The manner in which he disposed of the met field gives me goosebumps. That was a top class field. One of the best i have seen in my lifetime, possibly even better than frankel imo.

....and a very odd, but remarkable coat color......I lost a friendly bet on this color classification..... and when I see this stunning picture I can see why....:S....Basically Horse Chestnut did not have a remarkable reputation at stud in the USA and his projeny did not set the tracks on fire .....I do not believe he was suited to the mares that were sent to him .....I hope that he will be like his sire as so far other of Fort Wood's sons have not produced anything of note...... :S

Hi
Dynasty is a top sire and a son of Fort Wood. Elusive Fort has his 2nd crop of foals this year and bears watching.
Fort Wood was an invaluable addition to SA breeding.

Have to agree with you Muhtiman, looking at Wolf Power's progeny they seem to have been more successful overseas. Wolf Power was also exported to stand in U.S.A.

What are your suggestions for mares to go to Horse Chestnut, Muhti , looking at the fee of R15,000- what do you make of that?

Horse Chestnut also lost to Century Stand (sire of Earl Of Surrey) in the same race as HC ran 3rd.

yes Dynasty so far eclipses all the other sons of Fort Wood as his pedigree mirrors his race performances and. Is the best bred of all of Fort Woods progeny......Horse Chestnut should do well with Danzig mares better with Danzig+Prospector, mares by certain sons of Mr Prospector lbetter with Kingmambo/Kitalpha but this is a generalization.
Good breeding practice should be to find an ideal mating match for a mare and not do it by sending every mare on the farm to a stallion hoping that one or two would click....planning a mating should be done with consultation and with unbiased opinion
