Betting Restrictions
12 years 10 months ago
This has to go down as a disgrace..
Went onto my William Hill account and typed in £50 ew on Pretty Happy at 6/1 in
the 4-20 Fairyhouse.it is a 17 runner handicapp hurdle,very competitive race.
They declined my bet and offered me £0-83 ew,if it won i would win £7-50.....
I thought it may have been some error ,so tried £50 ew on Captain Lob at 11/2 in last..
Was offered £0-88 ew........
This company is the one of the largest and has over 2350 shops in UK.....
I know i harp on about restrictions, but that is so poor. They only want punters on the roulette wheels.

It really has to stop imho. Bookies are bookies and restricting everyone who wins just sends out a message that its pointless doing it. Killing the industry imho. Yes they are a business and they have interests to look after but it has become absurd.

I have heard so many reasons for them doing it Hibs... investors interests (restricting someone to winning 20 quid is going to affect no company that big!!), backing horses that shorten (many follow the market so this must be huge numbers!), repeatedly backing the same horse in a race (cos they think you are laying it off elsewhere whereas I simply keep a very small amount in my account for better control but when one keeps nagging at me I go back and back again etc), winning in a particular market (should we not try to specialise then?). What they fail to realise imho is that is the game... you win some you lose some, trying to win them all will leave them with no punters eventually.

New extreme... SPORTINGBET... allowed 62 pence on an 8/1 shot to win 5 pounds... then changed the price twice as I was trying to place the bet.
I just can't believe how anyone can justify this.
1. Restricted me as a result of a losing bet on a winner that was thrown out.
2. I have consistently lost money to this bunch of !??!%@$'s and have no idea why they restricted me to start with.
3. Continually take repeat bets because their system is ridiculously set up, takes some bets, not others but leaves the stakes in the box and then when you try again for the other bet they take the original bet again. They fail to appreciate that it is exactly because of this problem that it looks like people are repeat betting which is often not the case.
4. Refuse to give any reason for restrictions or to give an address for complaint.
5. Are obviously in a lot of trouble as a company if they will only take bets of 62 pence to win 5 pounds.
I can only ask that all clanners do not use them in the future and spread the word of how useless and pathetic they are. The more we fight back against these companies to show that this kind of discrimination against certain punters won't be accepted, then it might just be possible they will review some of their absurd decisions. Sounds stupid but doing nothing just lets them continue as they wish. I'm not even angry, I'm actually laughing, I just think they are a complete joke.
