Revive Durbanville

Who of the clan members were at Durbanville yesterday. In all my years of racing, I have never seen such a turnout. The braais were going, kids were playing on the jumping castle, and the atmosphere was brilliant. I was chatting to Revaun Smit afterwards and he shared the same sentiments regarding the huge turnout.
This should become the norm at all race tracks. Unfortunately the powers that be, never take the punter into consideration. Yesterday was a brilliant example as to how any local track should be over the weekend. We have some of the most beautiful courses in the world ie, Durbanville, Clairwood and Turfontein, so why not use this opertunity. It is better than sitting in one of the local TABS.
These guys must get their act together, we need to start getting families back, have the braais going, whats that cost - wood and brickets, jumping castles for the kids, whats that cost R180.00 a jumping castle, have a variaty of castles, you can even get superslide castles with water going, cool the kids down. Have live music inbetween, perhaps a beer tent. This is what we punters are looking for, a bit of intertainment in between races and believe me we will start bringing our friends and family along, and the attendence will certainly increase.
PS,
How the hell do you do spell check on these posts??????:S

hats off to clyde basel and his entire team for there innovative approach to bring back the crowds to racing i have attended the last two meetings at durbanville after a few years of absence from durbanville race course let me tell you the atmosphere was like back in the day when pip james still stood as a bookmaker on course what a nice experience at my second visit i was guilty of bringing my own alcholic beverage to the course knowing that this infringe on the liquor laws and the licence holder whats good for one should also be for another albeit that two wrongs does not make it right and for this i apoligies profusely but let me not put a damper on what looks like a brighter future for racing going forward in the years to come not to come across as to conceited and with respect to every one else i have the privilege of a private suite at kenilworth and been involved with sponsoring racing at kenilworth the last three years and will continue to sponsor as long as possible
with the volume turnout the caterer in my humble opinion should have a special for drinks the entire day (a little of a lot is a lot / a lot of nothing is nothing) as for the kids which not to come across as to dermented should be in a secluded area on course with a full house of entertainment these our just my trivial feelings and views as far as my future sponsorship in racing goes i will be looking at only sponsoring racing at durbanville what a homely experience my guest feedback on the day was unanimous thank you to all concerned as well as those who came out in there droves kids included
