Where in the history of our universe on Earth did this disease called AIDS or HIV pop up from?? I remember it was mid 80's and the news got out about this scum disease that had no cure etc. Now 30 yrs down the line and still no cures??

Sometimes I really wonder if some things might be more man-made than GOD blamed for punishing promiscous people. Love to hear the Muhti view on this disease.

.....On the contrary there have been great strides in preventing HIV+ from becoming full blown AIDS...With Antiretrovirals or ARV's and now people that are under treatment are ensured a normal and prolonged life....AIDS alone is not the real killer but many AIDS deaths are linked to a bigger killer TB that can be cured....having untreated TB and then contacting HIV+ will result in full blown AIDS regardless of ARV's

It migrated to the human race through humans eating "bush meat" - Chimpanzees and other primates. The virus in chimps is known as SIV, and through butchering these animals for food, blood has gotten mixed and the virus has mutated to survive and thrive in humans, because primates are our closest genetic relatives (our DNA is virtually identical). There are 2 main strains of HIV: HIV-1 and HIV-2. HIV-1 has three substrains, M (which accounts for some 90% of the world's infections), and strains N and O.

I have a good friend that was infected in a hospital before we became so aware of the virus, in the late 1990's. He has been on ARV's ever since (and in the early days, they were nowhere near as effective as they are now!), and he lives a healthy and full life, with very few health issues. It IS possible to live a long and happy life, provided you are tested regularly, and catch the virus early.

Abraham's passing is terribly tragic, and the grooms and work riders are all quite devastated. He was held in very high regard by them all.

Thanks Ruby....I have a Zimbabweian gardener that is riddled with the disease he had no idea about a remedy.....2 years ago I found a package of ARV s discarded in a public park.....yes sometimes people get talked out of ARV treatments by local herbalists....I gave them to him and told him what they were I said he could trade them in his living area.....Seems he got the gist as I have seen him discarding empty bottles of the latest generic treatments......remember he being an alien has no access to local ARV programmes but he is a resourseful chappie and made a plan....
