Greyville media release
12 years 6 months ago
Following further consultation with Track Manager Kurt Grunewald and the various service suppliers involved with the installation of the Sheldon Drainage and the new subway at Greyville, it has been agreed to delay racing's return to the City track until Tuesday 11 December 2012.
As a consequence, Gold Circle wishes to announce the following fixture changes:-
i) Friday 23 November, Greyville (N) moves to Scottsville (day), alongside Fairview.
ii) Tuesday 27 November, Greyville (N) moves to Scottsville (day) on Wednesday 28 November, alongside Kenilworth
iii) Friday 30 November, Greyville (N) moves to Scottsville (day) on Saturday 1 December, alongside Turffontein (Sansui Summer Cup).
"Whilst we do not generally agree to host more than one South African racemeeting on any week-day, we are mindful of the fact that we have lost an extraordinary number of races and/or race meetings over the past four months in KZN and we are thus committed to doing all that we can to minimise further disruptions to the racing programme," said Gold Circle Racing Director Graeme Hawkins.
"The long term weather forecast remains bleak until the end of the year but hopefully the Greyville racetrack will be ready for action by 11 December. All work on the track has been completed and it is simply a matter of allowing enough time for the full recovery of the affected areas," he added.
The Scottsville race track will close from 2 December 2012 until 12 January 2013 for its annual regeneration treatment.

True .and can't they differ the Scottsville treatment for a week or at least until they have tested the Greyville track.

A mock race of 12 runners should be held as is procedure when any new course or alteration is made
In Dubai they held 4 mock races on an afternoon before the new grass and Tapeta tracks were put into action
