What really puzzles me is that why there are fireworks at all ?

I grew up in Mauritius. It has a much larger indian population compared to Durban ( in percentage terms ) yet at Diwali there are no fireworks at all. Diwali on the island was more about hindus decorating their houses with beautiful lamps and lights. The food prepared at that time was also different and even more delicious than a good curry. Diwali was always an enjoyable experience for everyone.

On another note, to all of you bitchers and moaners I hope for your sake that you never have Chinese neighbours. They REALLY set off fireworks to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Those fireworks will have all of you running for cover and posting nasty messages on social media networks. ()

Agra, ''passive race'', nothing wrong with being that surely?? ... the Indian community represent what Duwali stands for imo...(tu) ... second part of your statement is more anger on your side, which i don't blame you for.

Agra, what does me being white have to do with it? Which part of what she wrote is 'hate speech' or racist ? What nationality or creed usually celebrate Diwali ? The Zulu's ? The Germans ? Or is it people of Indian descent? She was ranting about letting off firecrackers as not being a way to celebrate !! Was uncool but the reaction is even more uncool in my opinion.
Let me tell you buds..... the worst thing that ever happened to this planet is religion !! causes more shyte than everything else put together and all it is is brainwashing and subservient enslavement.

May she burn in hell indeed.... you sure you don't want to suicide bomb her ? Or perhaps fly a Cessna into her office block ... all in the name of religion : : ... absolutely mind boggling the vitriolic response to what is in essence an ill considered and insensitive post.

I am not surprised that you found the reaction to be "more uncool".

Now , go and google the word "Diwali" and the reason why fireworks played an important role during the 5 days of Diwali.

There has been numerous religious meetings in Durbs and Pmb and emotions on the ground are running high.

Before I post anything here let me be VERY CLEAR. This is my opinion and I only want to ask a question, hope the correct people can supply me with an answer.

So basically Agra, the Indian community lead by Mr. Reddy (who I also have met once upon a time while the shareholdings for the Scottsville casino was being signed and sorted out), are making an example out of a 20's something ex-beauty queen from Durban who doesn't like fireworks?

Also do you agree with the comments on that Facebook site that asked for her to be gang-raped in jail, have her car and her house burned down?

seriously? Whoever wrote that should really look closely at themselves as I'm certain there is no Religion that would condone such actions. I have many Hindu friends and none of them would ever condone such actions.

I know that the Indian community was angry about what this girl said, I understand that, but for some in the community to attack her and her way of life like they had.........Not sure it was called for.

IMO if Mr. Reddy and other leaders of the Indian community had simply done what they had done (burning the post in public) and left it at that, I believe that the point would have gotten across.

I don't agree with those statements about burning her house etc,

Has anyone seen a public apology though?.

As far as the Reddy guy is concerned, I am not sure if he is the leader of the group. I doubt it as there are more powerful leaders in that picture.

Not entirely an apology but remember for any race, creed, religion ect......the punishment should fit the crime and vice versa.

She was wrong in her wording and the people who threatened her existence were wrong too.
