the sa invitation stakes was a superb concept whereby the old natal transvaal and western province were represented by their top 4 jocks in their respective colours of black and white red and white and blue and white....robbie sham won on secet rites that year ..the 3 races i miss most are the sa invitation stakes the champion stakes at greyville over 2000m where i fondly recall fools holme winning in 2mins dead and the john skeaping at tftein over 1800m run early in the racing season pitting the newly turned 3yos against the 4yosat wfa terms...be noble zamit both trained by brian cherry and swan prince trained by michael airey owned by j phititides spring to mind...truly golden era of sa racing

Correct. Elis Truth also ran in the same race. The year was 1993. Mmm was it the same year Robbie Hill won the Gold Vase on Admilitary Arch after going to the front and then surviving an objection ? The Gold Vase was the last feature race of the season those days. One of my favourite horses won the Gold Vase that being Milleverof.
