Xmas crime Escalating
12 years 6 months ago
WITH Christmas only two weeks away, criminals are getting their holiday shopping done in the North Durban area.
06 December 2012 | Lauren Anthony
An uMhlanga Ridge resident, who asked to remain anonymous, said his wife was almost a victim of house robbery last Wednesday when she mistakenly left the driveway gate open for a few minutes.
“She had been taking the rubbish out and forgot to close the gate,” he said. “She heard a car drive up the driveway and saw it was a silver BMW, so she thought it was me as I drive the same car.”
He reported a well-dressed man, holding an electronic cord, got out the car and said he needed to do some testing, presumably on the electrical board.
“My wife immediately got suspicious, pushed him away and slammed the door, locking it. She then called our security company who arrived within minutes.”
It is unknown how many suspects were in the silver BMW, however, it is said to have an NUF registration.
“The same men then went to a neighbour’s house, three houses down from us, where they asked the domestic worker for some water,” he explained. “She let them in and they ransacked the house.
“I’d just like to warn all residents that these men are well-dressed, well-spoken and driving high-class cars. People must also warn their domestic workers not to let anyone in the house.”
2 woman were also attacked on the Umhlanga promenade and had their cell phones taken at knife point and 2 cars in our complex were broken into last night..it is like a war zone...

I was waiting for the 3rd race in PE to start on Friday when 3 guys burst into my home and tied my maid and myself up. They took what they wanted, stole my car and left me a nervous wreck. Life goes on......................

Fark sake Harris,that is terrible.
Thank god they found what they wanted.
I know things like that happen in other countries, but it seems to be regular in SA.

Thanks Titch, kind words seeing as though we have argued more than we agreed. My passport was recovered a few hours ago. That is a huge bonus as it is the only identity document I now have. It was found in the street and dropped of at the police station. Kind gesture from whoever found it. I have 4 dogs and they were of no use. My fox terrier cross was in such a state that he ran off to the vet about 2km away after the incident. Clever boy !
The receptionist called me an hour later, I was ok up until the point when I realised he was missing. I then thought they might have stolen him and I collapsed in a crying fit. My stuff they can have, not my kids !
