Solo, that white plaster strip thingy you see right on the ends of a horses face just above their nostrils.

Same effect as a landing strip or brazillian strip, allow for better breathing.

Solo, I have attached a picture of Rumya with it on her nose (see just below shadow roll, which is the white fluffy thing across her nose :) )

It helps with the breathing, although I'm not sure how a Brazilian strip helps with the breathing....has always left me kind of short of breath

:D

Solo I believe it works the same as that little strip some people with snoring problems place on the bridge of their noses? Seems to work but hard to imagine i know.

Imagine if jet engines were made of rubber, the might still work, but the force of air going through them would cause them to flap around, narrowing the area the airflow can go thru. It will also create a turbulent, choppy airflow, which may unbalance the plane, and in turn cause damage. Imagine you could put a reinforcing strip of aluminium around the rubber, which would stop the rubber moving around so much, and thus make the airflow smoother. The result is MORE air going through, and clearer air.

Another example is how much plastic flaps around on the back of a bakkie at speed, where are a piece of carboard might move, but it won't flap.

So the theory behind the Flair Nasal Strip, is that by "reinforcing" the soft area of the nostrils, the horse will be able to breathe in more air with each inspiration, and if the nostrils are "flapping" less, with each breath, then the air will disturb the mucosa and nasal passages less, and in theory assist "bleeders". So in short, more air, less bleeding.

All the "flapping" got me sidetracked :)

Ruby does Gary use these nasal strips and consequently do you believe they help?
